My name is Laurena and welcome to my blog Pivot~Paint~Create!

A little about me: I enjoy good food, good wine and a good laugh. I love to travel and experience different cultures. I’ve lived throughout Canada and Asia, but my Cape Breton roots have brought me back to Nova Scotia. I’m an environmentalist by trade but refinishing furniture is my passion. For as long as I can remember, I’ve painted. From simple paintings to furniture to walls…even outhouses! 😛

I started refinishing furniture a few years ago.  Then in 2012, my friend Penny and I started up Pivot Furniture & Design. We both have a passion for furniture and home design. Creating Pivot was a fun way we could use our passion for good! We’ve done a few pieces for ourselves, friends and other clients.

I love to renovate furniture and make the pieces look refreshed. Its hard to pinpoint my design style. It depends on the piece I’m working on, inspirations I’ve seen, or my mood. I love a mix of vintage, industrial, beachy and farmhouse decor.

In this blog, my goal is to share our finished pieces from Pivot Furniture & Design, some current furniture I’m redoing, and some dos & don’ts of furniture refinishing. I’d love to hear from you so please feel free to contact me!
